Initial Years

We characterise this stage as being the first two to five years of employment or business. Generally working long hours to establish a good foundation with low levels of income or profit combined with the pressures of personal life.

If in business, you may have invested substantial funds to get things going, either through private cash or guarantees from the bank. You find the biggest challenge here is juggling the management roles of marketing, finance, operations, sales and HR with little external support, whilst being dependent on one major customer or contract.

At this stage we look to underpin the risks you have taken and help you design a financial strategy to move to a more secure place and start to build short term savings to protect what you have started.

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.

The value of an investment with St. James's Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invested.

The levels and bases of taxation and reliefs from taxation can change at any time. The value of any tax relief depends on individual circumstances.
